Farewell Ireland - Hello Scotland

Wednesday 21st July 2010

We left straight after breakfast to go to Belfast docks to get the boat to Ireland.
See the cars queued up here? Well we are way in front of them by the fence because we paid "premium" - on and off quicker and table service in the premium lounge on board. to be honest it was only worth paying for premium for the loading and unloading privileges, as there is so much to do and see on these boats it's amazing. Kids playroom, free movie screenings, gaming rooms, cafeteria style restaurants, shops - even a nail bar - I kid you not! If this is what our boats are like going to Tassie then I'm off - just for the boat ride............. Kid's playroom!
Farewell Ireland................... (from the back of the boat)

We were unable to take pictures as we approached Stranraer (Scotland) because there was no front or side decks to go out on and I'm not clever enough to take photos through glass. There was a parking spot not far away from the docks though, so this was our first real look at Scotland. The heads you can see in the distance are those we came through in to Stranraer Harbour.

The weather was glorious for the whole crossing and still fine and warm when we arrived.

By the time we skirted our way around Glasgow, it had begun to rain and rain, and rain. We did get one or two photos.................... but disappointingly completely missed out on seeing Loch Lomond as you couldn't see you hand in front of your face by then, let alone the Loch!

It had actually been a very long day and by the time we got to our accommodation it was about 9pm - we left Ireland at 8.30am.

We arrived at our B&B in fort William, were shown to our room and this is what we saw from the window!
We fell asleep looking at it and woke to it the next morning!
